Evaluation of Skills for Success-Reading and Writing Based on Criteria Designed by Alan Cunningsworth

This study aimed to evaluate the textbook “Skills for Success- Reading and Writing” based on criteria of a good by Cunningsworth (1984). book is taught level 1 at King Khalid University. A qualitative method with content analysis was used collecting analyzing data. (1984)’s involve eight categories, language content, selection grading items, presentation practice new skills communicative abilities, supporting materials, motivation, overall evaluation adaptation innovation. The findings revealed that meets all Cunningsworth. However, author can make some improvements, such as developing more productive tasks, teaching most frequent grammatical patterns, finally, pronunciation spelling tasks.
